  1. What a beautiful encounter it was to meet Mikhael and Dimitriy and all the beautiful people around them as well as to experience the island’s magic. I am truly grateful. A big gift to me. If I were alone I would have stayed two weeks…
These two guides are very knowledgeable about not only Olkhon island, the Baikal and Siberia but about life and geo-politics and what makes this planet spin around and around time and again. We spent hours talking and learning while being taken to the most breathtaking sites! Olkhon majestic energy and serenity clearly attracts like minded souls whatever their individual mission might be.
Olkhon has stolen my heart and I can’t even pinpoint exactly why. It’s just a feeling I get when I’m there. Thank you Irkutsk Free Tour for making the ride very smooth….

  2. Dimitri and Mickail have arranged a very good tour to Baikal….we had really a good and comfortable stay with tasty food…..very nicely taken care of everything start from beginning to end….. Dimitri and Mickail are very knowledgeable about the culture and traditions of Siberia…..Thank for making such a memorable trip Dima and Misha…..
    Thank you so much

  3. My guides English was great. And she was very cheerful. Had a good understanding of the city and didn’t over explain. Overall I felt very comfortable.
    Thank you!

  4. Went for a 3D2N Olkhon Island tour with my friend, and we were immediately contacted by Dimitriy who gave us information about the tour. Our tour guide was Mikhail (Misha) who accompanied us for the whole tour and I cannot stress how awesome the tour is! Misha picked us up early at the airport and brought us to a nice hip place in Irkutsk to eat breakfast, and following which he brought us to a famous church in the city (these were not included in the itinerary but he did so because we had time). Then we began the 6 hours drive to Olkhon island and throughout, he explained so many things along the way (scenes, culture, geography, animals, history etc) and pointed out views for us. Olkhon Island is truly amazing too, the views are 10/10 and it is thrilling to be able to climb some rocks. Misha always explained the history, legends, stories to us, and the food from the guest house was always good as well! We got to meet Dima as well and he also helped us along the way! As the island is so far away from Irkutsk, and there is perhaps no public transport for tourist on the island, I would say that this trip cannot be done without a guide. I would totally recommend this trip with Misha, it is really worth the price and both of them speak perfect and fluent english! I went for the summer trip, but am looking forward to the winter views sometime.

  5. We were accompanied and taken care of Mikhail during the entire trip in Irkutsk-Lake Baikal Tour, Mikhail was such a nice tour guide throughout the entire trip as he drove us everywhere and made sure he covered most of the historical and touristic spots as the weather was really cold and inconvenient for us to walk about for long hours. We got a once in a lifetime experience walking on frozen deep lake and it could not have been better without Mikhail’s help. Thankyou so much

  6. We had the Baikal Tour with Andrej. It was fantastic- well organized, funny and flexible. He speaks great english and everything was perfect understandable. I can really recommend it! And thanks again 🙂

  7. Did a two day trip to Arshan- first time in Siberia: not the last time. I will be back to see this amazing place again

  8. Had the most amazing tour with Misha. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the region and Russia in general, but he was also engaging and super thoughtful! Will definitely be contacting him when I come to Irkutsk again.

  9. I did the Baikal 1 day trip with Mary: 5 stars 😉 She was amazing, funny and explaining everything. Thoughtful during the entire tour!
    Totally recommend.

  10. I did the free walking tour with Mary and she was amazing, I was there in Winter so it was quite cold and I did the evening walk, but the knowledge Mary has on the history and area is quite amazing. I was also the only person on the tour so we went off the route a bit and I got a little extra out of the tour, for which I am very grateful and delighted I went on the tour.
The next day I went with Dimitry to lake Baikal and I highly recommend this trip, again I was the only person on the tour and I was so lucky to get special attention and the tour was amazing, I cannot describe accurately how great an experience it was to go on this tour and I learnt so much about the history of this region. I will definitely be going back again

  11. Dimitriy was my guide for the free tour and if was a real good moment. He his really friendly, has good knowledge in history/geography and like to share it. I definitely recommand it, you will spend a wonderful time and if you are lucky, you’ll get tea and blinis.
Good luck, wish you the best

  12. Oleg was my guide for the free Walking tour through Irkutsk after booking the tour only a couple of hours before. He immediately contacted me and explained me all sort of things not only connected to the Sightseeing but to anything I was asking about which allowed us to not only talk in a guide-customer athmosphere but a very nice, fluent and friendly one (also thanks to his great English). I really enjoyed the time, learned a lot about the city which was really interesting and really appreciate the help he offered even apart from the walking tour itself. Super nice guy, great and authentic tour out in the cold evening of Siberia and definitely an experience that was worth making it. Thanks again! I definitely recommend it:))

  13. Our first day in Irkutsk was amazing with the help by Dimitry and Maria the guide 😉 It was a last minute booking but luckily due to their speedy response, we made an evening city tour eventually. Despite the cold (-16), Maria performed professionally and enthusiastically. She was a personable guide whom I enjoy spending time with her.

  14. I spent four days with Dimitriy and enjoyed every minute of it! I started with the free walking tour around Irkutsk. Dimitriy was very knowledgable about the history and culture of Irkutsk, the region and the country as a whole. I enjoyed the walking tour so much that I signed up for the one-day tour to Listvyanka (Lake Baikal), as well as the two-day tour to Lake Baikal and Arshan as well. On both tours Dimitriy was a great guide and excellent company. He is a safe driver, fun to talk to, and a good teacher. Everything was perfectly organised, including accommodation on the two-day trip. Dimitriy is also very interested in traveling and other cultures, so we had good discussions about a lot of different topics. I cannot recommend all the tours I did enough. Thank you for showing me your home, my friend! I’ll be back (maybe in summer this time)!

  15. Mary was one of the best guides I have ever had. Her English is fluent, her knowledge huge and her personality is warm. Totally recommended.

    1. I had a walking tour with Oleg. He’s a very chill guy and is very knowledgeable. He answered all questions I had and his English was really good as well. I’d definitely have a tour again with him when I come back to Siberia!

  16. Mary was so lovely, incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Siberian history! I’m so pleased with the tour! Thank you so much Mary, I really appreciated your time! 🙂

  17. We were extremely happy about the tour of the city with Dimitri ! We stopped in Irkutsk on our way to Vladivostok, didn’t expect much from Irkutsk beside the incredible Lake Baikal. What a mistake !! Dimitri showed us a very passionating city with much history beside. Probably the best city tour we ever made during our different travel.

Thank you Dimitri !! See you soon !

  18. This was the best free walking tour of all our travels! Dimitri showed us around not just the most beautiful and interesting places but we discovered some secrets of Irkutsk together. That made it special and we were really happy to get to know a lot of the authentic stuff that is not in the travel guides or on the web.
Dimitri speaks perfect English and just knows a ton of things about the city itself, history and whatnot. He was very empathic and had a good sense of what we were interested in, he’s just a very good guide. In addition to this we got a lot of useful information that made our stay in Irkutsk so much easier!
Doing the Irkutsk free walking tour was the best start for us.
Thanks a lot for this cool experience!

  19. Mary, our guide on the walking tour, was really friendly and knowledgable! She even gave us tips for what to do in Listvyanka and helped us with bookings of our boats ect! Thank you for showing us around Irkutsk, Mary!

  20. We had a great time and got to see many incredible places in Irkutsk. Thank you for an amazing day!

  21. Thanks to this website we can find great walking tour with very interesting person. Good choice!!!

  22. We joined Mikhaïl for the tour of Irkutsk city center . His english was really good and explanations really interesting ! We really like the links who he made between monuments and History. Indeed he answered all of our questions. Thanks you a lot !

  23. We joined Mikhail on a bandy match, which was a great experience! He explained a lot about the sport and the match itself was very interesting to watch. Highly recommend this trip. Thanks for today! We enjoined it a lot.

  24. Dimitriy was my guide in Irkutsk and it was great! He is very knowledgeable about the city and about Russian history in general, he was able to answer all my questions about Russia both past and present. He is also a very nice guy so it’s very pleasant to spend a few hours with him. I mentioned I like sweets so we fit a stop to the local bread factory where we tried amazing sweets and I bought some for my upcoming train ride.
All in all, I highly recommend Dimitriy as your guide!
Dimitriy, all the best to you and your wife and may all your plans come true!

  25. A couple of weeks have already passed since I visited Irkutsk, but thanks to Dimitry and Natasha, I was able to know a lot about the place.

Actually, I booked the free walking tour before I left Japan, but on that day they had a plan to go visit Turgenevka, the village of Belarusian settlement and let me join them! The festival there was interesting. I saw the village of Buryat people as well. On the way to the village, they talked to me a lot about Irkutsk.

I ‘m looking forward to visiting Irkutsk and seeing them again.

  26. Today I participated in a walking tour of Irkutsk conducted by Dimitry of itkutskfreetour. It was a wonderful experience as Dimitry had a wealth of information about Irkutsk and surrounding regions. His passion for his city and country made me want to come back to this area and explore it further. Very highly recommended!

  27. Today we did a walking tour with Dmitry. There was 7 in the group. Dimitry is very knowledgeable and passionate about his city. He was able to answer all of our questions. The tour was excellent.

  28. Hello,
I participated in a free tour two days ago. The tour took place, although I was the only registered participant (two others appeared spontaneously), which I found great!
Although the weather wasn’t good, our guide Mikhail tried to make the best out of it and did a very good job. He told us a lot about the historical background of the city – and how it is connected to the city’s monuments. All that without being boring.
I can only recommend the tour!
Thank you very much for the tour!

  29. Our visit to Irkutsk as we completed the trans Siberian crossing- the Mongolian route in July was magnificent. You know you’ve struck gold when you use your guide not once but twice. Dimitry took us on a walking tour a day after we had spent with him in Litzvyanka.
The walking tour was very informative and yet casual to the point that it felt like we were going on a walk with an old friend.
Dimitry is extremely knowledgeable of Irkutsk and Litzvyanka. Trying to explore Irkutsk may be possible but you will miss out on the stories and history that Dimitry gently blends into your walk. The pace of the walk is easy and coffee breaks a must which we did to take in even more stories from Dimitry and also to listen to his own story.
Dimitry is a great guy and extremely helpful and totally punctual.

  30. Dimitry and Natasha’s walking tour was high quality. I was able to see overview of the city. I highly recommend. Well organized, well planned. Any questions will be answered properly. Dimitry and Natasha are open-minded. Not only about the city, you can talk about anything happening in life during the tour. Thank you so much for the tour!!

  31. Thanks to our guide Natasha, who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The route of the tour was well planned, we were able to understand the history and background behind every landmarks and building we pass by. Natasha was also very helpful in suggesting us local restaurant and other informations we asked about the city. Overall, it is very worth it! Highly recommend for everyone !

But she also told about the today life of people from Irkoutsk and Russian in general. We drank a delicious kvas together. I recommanded !

Thank you again and good luck for this very nice activity !
